Off By Heart Design offers digital patterns for different techniques. Read each listing carefully to see whether the project uses finger knitting, hand knitting, or hand crochet. Those instructions are not interchangeable.
The Raspberry Stripe blanket is a beginner finger-knitting pattern using a standard loop stitch. It requires no knitting needles. The Wildflower Heart blanket is also a finger-knitting design.
Choose a finished size that suits your project
Compare the finished measurements in the listing with the blanket you want to make. The Raspberry Stripe pattern makes a blanket approximately 44 inches by 70 inches. The 90’s Pink Stripe pattern is 40 inches by 44 inches.
Stitch size matters. For the Raspberry Stripe pattern, I recommend measuring your first chain row and checking again after adding the second row. This gives you an early opportunity to check whether you are working toward the intended width.
Follow the yarn list for your chosen pattern
Use the yarn colours and quantities listed in your pattern file. Avoid assuming that every chunky blanket requires the same amount of yarn: the design, measurements, and stitch size all affect the project.

Can you use a loom?
The Raspberry Stripe finger-knitting pattern is not recommended for a loom. Working it on a loom can produce a tighter fabric and a blanket that is shorter or narrower than the intended result. Follow the technique specified in the pattern if you want to recreate the pictured design.
